What is BlackRock

BlackRock is a major asset management firm. As of May 2026, David Hoffman stated that BlackRock is “explicitly targeting stablecoin holders” with its products. A host noted that the ETF market is growing at roughly 30% per year while mutual funds are flat, and that “BlackRock is starting to run away with it”; ETF assets remain around half those of traditional mutual funds in aggregate, though that gap is expected to close within a few years if trends continue. Sam Parr noted in May 2026 that BlackRock, alongside firms like Blackstone, is involved with distressed SaaS companies—whose market caps have fallen sharply—owned through private credit, presenting those companies with difficult financial choices.
