Cognition is an AI company cited by Gavin Baker in May 2026 as among “the most successful AI natives.” According to Nathaniel Whittemore in May 2026, Cognition’s AI tool, Devin, accounted for a rapidly increasing share of the company’s internal code commits: 17% in January, 33% in February, 76% in March, and 89% by the time of his statement. Baker noted in May 2026 that despite successes such as Cognition’s, AI had net destroyed trillions of dollars of value at the application layer.
