What is Neanderthals?
Neanderthals
Neanderthals are an extinct group of archaic humans who interbred with modern humans, leaving a genetic legacy in present-day populations. Current genetic research suggests that Neanderthal Y chromosomes and mitochondrial DNA were replaced by modern human versions through interbreeding hundreds of thousands of years ago, while dietary evidence indicates they consumed a variety of plant foods.
