Who is Amjad Masad?
Amjad Masad is the CEO of Replit, a software development platform. In April 2026, he stated that he no longer thinks people should learn how to code, and that IDEs are dead. He also noted that fine-tuning models for coding is approaching a plateau. In May 2026, Masad reported that Replit’s ARR grew from $2.5 million to $250 million in one year, with $1 million ARR on the first day and $2 million on the second. He said Replit is on track to reach a billion dollars in ARR this year. Masad also claimed that Magic School, a business started on Replit, is worth $500 million, and noted that foundation model companies have not developed durable moats.
