What is Replit?

Replit is a software development platform that enables users to build and deploy applications, increasingly through AI-driven agents. The platform is evolving toward autonomous, self-improving agents that can handle complex tasks.

• Apr 2026 - Amjad Masad said IDEs are dead and that users should be able to tell Replit to autonomously build and market a SaaS company daily.
• May 2026 - Amjad Masad reported Replit’s revenue grew from $2.5M to $250M ARR in one year, with $1M ARR on the first day and $2M on the second, and stated Replit is on track to reach $1B in revenue that year.
• May 2026 - Andrej Karpathy described Replit as “the AGI moment.”
• Jun 2026 - Amjad Masad described a self-improving loop where an agent autonomously improves its contacts, costing $254/month for 120 follow-ups, and said Replit is on the precipice of unlocking self-improving agents.
• Jul 2026 - Jason Lemkin described Replit’s agent orchestration: when Claude on Opus talks to Replit on Sonnet for a big feature, Replit brings in a sub-agent called the architect, which runs on Codex from OpenAI.
