Anthropic now leads OpenAI in business customer share on Ramp's July spend data

A corporate spending tracker shows Anthropic edging out OpenAI among business users for the first time, a data point worth watching as enterprise AI adoption matures.

Ramp, the corporate card and spend-management platform, released July 2026 figures showing Anthropic ahead of OpenAI among its business users. According to Nathaniel Whittemore, 42.4% of Ramp users paid for Anthropic versus 39.5% for OpenAI. That is a notable reversal in a dataset that reflects actual corporate purchasing decisions rather than self-reported preferences or web traffic.

The caveat worth keeping in mind: Ramp’s user base skews toward tech-forward companies, so the numbers may not reflect the broader enterprise market. Still, spend data is harder to game than survey data, which makes this a more concrete signal than most.

Whether this represents a durable shift or a single month’s fluctuation is an open question. Ramp data from prior months was not supplied here, so the trend line remains unclear. What the July snapshot does suggest is that Anthropic has at minimum closed the gap with OpenAI on the dimension that arguably matters most: getting businesses to pay for the product.
